“My family has always taken a stance of “live and let live.”” I come from a very diverse family. Growing up with that diversity has helped me to have an open mind throughout my life. While I have ancestral lines that have chosen to live plural marriage, the practice of it in my life began with my grandmother. I am the only descendant in the third generation that has decided to live it. Most of my relatives in the second generation have decided not to live it as well. I’ve been somewhat the odd one out, since choosing to live in this controversial lifestyle. However, my family has

Sharing my experiences so far in plural marriage We’ve decided to share our experiences over the past year of living in our plural marriage. I’ve experienced more over the past year and learned more than I can ever hope to share, especially in this short post. I’m writing this post after midnight though and that seems to be a common theme in the life of a man in a plural marriage. It’s hard sometimes to find quiet moments for introspection and reflection. One of my biggest struggles so far has been finding time for myself. I knew that my life would be more busy and I have always been
I’ll start this with a brief summary of part one and then pick up where I left off last week. To summarize: I was born and raised as faithfully as any youth is in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was exposed to very negative views of plural marriage as a child and discovered later that there was also a happy and blessed side to it. It wasn’t always just a trial and a hardship. I began to struggle with my testimony in relation to the LDS Church and the original teachings of the “New and Everlasting Covenant.” A few years after this, I began

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that
My wives have already given you a fairly thorough introduction to our family.
I’m well aware that I haven’t shared an introduction yet, or a post about my journey into plural marriage. There’s been a lot of discussion lately over the proper use of the term “Mormon” in describing adherents to the religious tenets taught originally by Joseph Smith. As it’s been a topic of interest lately, I’ve decided to delay my introduction for another week and put in my two cents concerning this topic.
Well, its kinda hard to write about yourself, but here we go… Hi everyone, My name is Sophie Winder. I’m Colton’s second wife, and we have been married for just over a year. I work a full time job, and am a midwifery apprentice. In marrying Colton and Tami, I have become a third generation plural wife.
The beginning of a journey… My name is Tami Winder and I am Colton’s first wife. Colton and I have been married for 8 years, we have one child together so far and are hoping for more soon. I work part time but the job I love most is being a mom. A few years ago we came to the decision that we should live plural marriage, and not long after that we met Sophie.
