The Winder Family/ April 9, 2019/ Our story, Religion, Seeking Sister Wife

Hello! I am April, Sophie Winder’s mother.

The Winders have invited me to be a guest blogger today; in support of their intention to stand up for who they are!  I know they are making every effort to show their family values to the world.  I am so proud of them and the way their family is standing up for their beliefs.  They are willing to take on the world and make it a better, more tolerant place, for their children to grow up in… Hopefully!!!

I was subject to persecution from those who believe living this way is somehow morally wrong.

I am a second-generation plural wife and I know first hand the perception that most people have of polygamous families. I was subject to persecution from those who believe living this way is somehow morally wrong.   My family was like everyone else’s, except I had more than one mother.  Growing up, I was sad for other children who only had one mother. I felt even worse for those families that only had a few kids! I remember thinking about how boring their holidays must be.

I always wanted sister-wives

As a young woman, I held a firm belief that I had made covenants to my “soul mate” in Heaven; promising to unite here on earth and become his help-meet into godhood.  I knew God would bring us together, if I did my part to be worthy of that blessing. I lived with that expectation and went about furthering my testimony in plural marriage.  I always wanted sister-wives and sought out courtship with men who had wives or wanted that for our future.  I was blessed to find my husband and have two sister-wives!  Now, he waits for us on the other side and even without a living husband, we share that bond of family forever!

I will forever be grateful to our Father above for the blessing of my son-in-law and his beautiful wives

I have watched Sophie, Tami and Colton from the very beginning of their courtship. I was witness to the Lord’s hand in fulfilling promises of faithful service to His will. I will forever be grateful to our Father above for the blessing of my son-in-law and his beautiful wives… Miracles still happen!  I watch and pray that this third generation of plural families won’t have to struggle with the contentions of our unyielding society.

Living the fullness of the gospel is a true, driving desire in the way I go about my daily life

Knowing and living with faith in our Heavenly Father’s plan and believing in our Savior, Jesus Christ, is the first and key step to my divine goals.  There are those who seek to be gods… and I will strive for nothing less than godhood and will always try to be a servant in our eternal Father’s hands.  Living the fullness of the gospel is a true, driving desire in the way I go about my daily life…  May the world of my grandchildren be a place of compassion and love.  Live and let live and may heaven be your guide. Arise and let your light shine forth unto the world!         -April
